WHO WE ARE

Turtle Rock Elementary School PTA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is managed by a team of dedicated parent and staff volunteers. We are committed to enhancing the well-being of all students and it is our belief that teachers, staff, and parents have a responsibility to ensure that all students develop to their full potential. We also believe that parents are students' first teachers and that parent involvement is essential throughout a child's educational experience. Our responsibility includes advocating for the safety and welfare of all students and working together with teachers, staff, and administrators to provide quality education and enrichment opportunities.

WHAT WE DO

Turtle Rock Elementary PTA supports students and teachers in a variety of ways:

• Facilitate communication and collaboration between parents, students, teachers, and administrators.
• Plan and fund family events to increase engagement and foster a supportive school community (ice cream social, fall festival, family movie night, talent show, multi-cultural festival, etc.).
• Organize fundraising programs and events (fall pledge drive, jog-a-thon, pizza night, etc.).
• Pay for educational enrichment programs that the State and IUSD does not provide support for.
   
  • PE Program: Your support allows us to provide PE for ALL students including Pre-K and Kindergarten (the state does not cover the cost of PE for Pre-K or K). We also fund additional PE time above the state-funded minimum because we believe physical activity is important for child development.

  • Classroom supplies and field trips: We give every class over $1,000 for classroom supplies and field trip subsidies (e.g. crafts/projects, prizes, school supplies, materials, books, etc.).

  • Educational assemblies: We fund health education talks for upper grade girls and boys and annual schoolwide assemblies.
• Fund teacher and staff appreciation luncheons, scholarships, and recognition awards.
• Organize and engage with volunteers that provide support for PTA activities, events, classroom assistance, and other school-wide programs.

WHY WE DO IT

Irvine Unified School District (IUSD) is one of the highest performing school districts in California and nationwide, but the district has significant gaps in both federal and state per student funding due to the state's Local Control Funding Formula (LCFF). Turtle Rock Elementary School PTA works to fill these funding gaps by fundraising and organizing supplemental student enrichment activities and programs. Donations, grants, and community sponsorships are critical to sustain the high-quality education and enrichment opportunities for Turtle Rock Elementary students.
